We support and fund the education and training of music librarians in the UK and Ireland.

We also fund research projects related to music libraries, librarianship, and bibliography.

The Music Libraries Trust was founded by and remains closely affiliated with the UK and Ireland branch of the International Association of Music Libraries.

A vital part of my early music training came from regular visits to our local public library which included a music room, stocked with contemporary scores and recordings as well as the classics; and a knowledgeable, encouraging music librarian looking after them. I would like to see widely accessible opportunities like these return all round the UK, in 21st century form.
— Judith Weir CBE, composer
Without the availability of music libraries, I would never have got to know musical scores. They are absolutely essential for the furtherance of musical knowledge and enjoyment.
— Sir Peter Maxwell Davies, composer and conductor
